Understanding Credits & Limits

Updated March 11, 2026

Content Raptor uses a credit system to manage usage across different features. Your plan determines how many credits you receive and how they refresh.

Where to Check Your Credits

  • Sidebar — The Usage card at the bottom of the left sidebar shows your Rank Tracker and A/B Test credits at a glance
  • Settings > Account — The full credit breakdown with all credit types and refresh dates

Credit Types

Rank Tracker Credits

Control how many keywords you can track. These credits can refresh on a daily or monthly schedule (you choose in Settings).

  • Daily refresh — You receive a portion of your monthly allotment each day. Recommended for most users, as it prevents running out of credits mid-month
  • Monthly refresh — You receive all credits at the start of each billing cycle. Best if you prefer to add all keywords at once

Tip: You can change your credit refresh period in Settings > Account. Switching to daily is recommended unless you have a specific reason to batch all keyword additions.

Optimization Credits

Used each time you create a new content optimization task. Some plans include unlimited optimization credits; others have a monthly cap.

AI Writer Credits

Consumed when you use AI-powered features in the editor, such as AI-generated outlines or AI content suggestions. These refresh monthly.

A/B Test Credits

Used when running content A/B tests. Plans with the testing package include unlimited test credits. Without it, you receive a limited number of free tests.

Off-Domain Optimization Credits

Used when you create an optimization for a page on a domain that is not connected to your Google Search Console — for example, optimizing a guest post on someone else's site, or analyzing a competitor's page structure. These are separate from standard optimization credits and refresh monthly.

Checking Your Usage

In Settings > Account, you can see:

  • Credits remaining — How many credits you have left in each category
  • Credits maximum — Your total allocation per refresh period
  • Next refresh date — When your credits will reset

What Happens When You Run Out

  • Rank Tracker — You cannot add new keywords until credits refresh. Existing keywords continue to be tracked and updated daily — running out of credits only prevents adding new keywords
  • Optimization — You cannot create new optimization tasks until credits refresh. Existing tasks remain accessible
  • AI Writer — AI features become unavailable until credits refresh. You can still write manually in the editor

Common Questions

Can I buy more credits?

Upgrading your plan increases your credit allocation. See Upgrading or Changing Plans.

Do unused credits roll over?

No. Credits reset to your plan's maximum at each refresh, whether daily or monthly. Unused credits do not accumulate.

Are credits shared across team members?

Yes. Credits are account-wide, not per-user. All team members draw from the same credit pool. If you have multiple people adding keywords or creating optimizations, coordinate to avoid running out mid-cycle.

Why do I have two types of rank tracker credits (daily and monthly)?

You only use one at a time. The daily/monthly setting controls your refresh schedule — it does not give you two separate pools. Choose whichever cadence fits your workflow.
