Marking Content as Complete

Updated March 11, 2026

Finishing a task helps you track progress and keeps your Home page clean.

When to Finish

You are done when:

  1. Your Entity Score is green (in the optimal range). You can mark a task as complete even with a lower score — the system won't prevent it — but a green score gives you the best chance of ranking improvement.
  2. You have proofread for quality.
  3. (Optional) You have exported the content to your CMS.

How to Mark as Complete

  1. In the editor's top bar (next to the target keyword), click the Status Dropdown.
  2. Select "Completed".

What Happens Next

When you mark a task as "Completed":

  • The task moves to the "Completed" column on the Optimizer Tasks board
  • The "Incomplete Task" card on your Home page disappears
  • Content Raptor automatically creates an A/B test that starts collecting data immediately, comparing your page's search performance before and after the optimization

The A/B test tracks four metrics over time — average position, daily clicks, daily impressions, and click-through rate. This lets you measure whether your changes actually improved performance. View your test results from the Test Results tab in Optimizer Tasks.

Tip: Allow at least 2-4 weeks after marking complete before drawing conclusions from your A/B test. Search ranking changes are gradual.

Note: You can still edit a document after marking it as complete. Change the status back to "Not started" or "In progress" if needed.

Common Questions

Can I revert from Completed?

Yes. Open the document and change the status dropdown back to "Not started" or "In progress." The A/B test will remain — it is not deleted when you change the status.

What if I am not ready to create an A/B test?

Keep the task in "In progress" status until you have published the content to your site. The A/B test is only useful if the optimized content is live, so mark as complete after publishing.
