Finding Your Best Opportunities

Updated March 11, 2026

Content Raptor analyzes your search performance to identify keywords where better content can improve your rankings and drive more traffic.

Start from the Home Page

Your Home page shows your top opportunities, automatically sorted by potential traffic gain. For most users, this is the best place to find your next optimization.

  1. Check the priority card at the top—it highlights your single best opportunity.
  2. Browse the opportunities table below for more options.
  3. Click "Optimize" to start.

Advanced: Keyword & Page Opportunities

For more control over which opportunities you see, use the dedicated views in the navigation:

Keyword Opportunities

Best for precision targeting. This view shows individual keywords where you have improvement potential.

  • Why use it — You want to target a specific term like "best running shoes"
  • How to use — Sort by "Potential Gain" to find high-value terms

Page Opportunities

Best for holistic page improvement. This view groups keywords by URL. It shows pages that rank for many opportunity keywords.

  • Why use it — You want to update an old blog post and capture traffic for 10+ keyword variations at once
  • How to use — Look for pages with a high "Keywords Count" and high "Total Potential Gain" (the estimated additional monthly traffic if those keywords reached top positions)

Evaluating Opportunities

Not all opportunities are equal. The best candidates have three qualities:

  1. High Potential Gain — Keywords where reaching top positions would significantly increase traffic
  2. High Search Volume — Prioritize keywords with 100+ monthly searches
  3. Relevance — Ensure the keyword actually matches the intent of your page

As a rule of thumb, keywords ranking in positions 4–20 with decent search volume are your strongest candidates. They already have some authority, so content improvements alone can often push them into top positions. Keywords ranking 50+ typically need more than just content optimization (backlinks, technical SEO, etc.).

Filters & Sorting

In the Keyword and Page Opportunities views, use the table controls to refine your list:

  • Search — Find specific terms (e.g., "pricing", "review")
  • Position Range — Filter by current ranking position
  • Potential Gain — Sort high-to-low to focus on the biggest opportunities

Tip: If you use Rank Tracking, you can also find optimization opportunities from your tracked keywords. See Finding Ranking Opportunities.

Common Questions

What if I don't see any good opportunities?

If all opportunities have very low search volume or are irrelevant to your business, you may need to create new content targeting keywords you don't rank for yet. Use the Full Optimization workflow to build a comprehensive optimization with the wizard and editor.

Should I optimize everything at once?

No. Focus on one or two opportunities at a time. Finish each optimization and give it 2–4 weeks to show results before starting the next one.
