Step 4: Review Your Brief

Updated March 11, 2026

Step 4 is where you review everything before you start writing.

The Goal

Ensure you have a solid plan (Keyword, Audience, Outline) so you don't waste time writing the wrong content.

What to Review

1. The Strategy

Check the Primary Keyword and Search Settings at the top. Are they correct? If not, click "Edit" to go back.

2. The Outline

Review the structure one last time. This will be your guide in the editor.

3. Competitors (Right Sidebar)

Look at the Competitor Table. These are the pages currently ranking in top positions. The table shows each competitor's URL, their Entity Score, word count, and the number of headings they use.

  • Entity Score — A percentage showing how comprehensively they cover key topics. See Understanding Entity Coverage for details. Aim to match or exceed the average competitor score.
  • URL — Click to read their content for inspiration

4. SEO Checklist

Review the entities (important topics and concepts) you need to cover. You don't need to memorize them — they will be available in the editor's sidebar as a checklist you can work through while writing.

Starting the Optimization

When you are ready, click "Start Optimizing". This will:

  1. Lock in your settings.
  2. Open the Page Editor.
  3. Begin the real-time entity analysis.

Note: You can still edit your outline inside the editor, but changing the Primary Keyword or Location will require starting a new task.
