Content Optimization

Updated March 11, 2026

Content optimization is the process of improving your existing web pages to rank higher in search results by analyzing what works for top competitors and creating better content.

What Content Raptor Does

Content Raptor analyzes your Google Search Console data and top-ranking competitor pages to give you:

  • Keyword targeting — Which keywords have the best potential for improvement based on your existing search data
  • Entity coverage — Important topics and concepts top competitors mention that you should cover
  • Content structure — AI-generated outlines based on what works for top-ranking pages
  • Real-time scoring — Entity coverage tracking, keyword variant suggestions, and competitor insights as you write

The Content Optimization Process

Content optimization with Content Raptor follows a simple 4-step process:

Step 1: Choose Your Topic

Select the primary keyword you want to optimize for, or create a custom topic.

Step 2: Set Your Search Settings

Choose your target country, device type (desktop/mobile), and optional local targeting.

Step 3: Create Your Outline

Build your content structure using AI generation, importing from an existing URL, or starting from scratch.

Step 4: Review Your Brief

Review your complete optimization plan and competitor analysis before writing.

Then: Write and Optimize

Use the Page Optimizer editor to write your content with real-time guidance on:

  • Entity coverage
  • Keyword usage
  • Competitor analysis
  • Progress tracking

Managing Your Optimizations

The Optimizer Tasks board helps you track the status of all your content projects. See Managing Optimizer Tasks for the full guide.

  • Kanban View — Visual board to drag-and-drop tasks between "Not started", "In progress", and "Completed"
  • Table View — List view for sorting and filtering larger numbers of tasks
  • Quick vs. Full — Filter by optimization type. Full optimizations use the wizard and editor for comprehensive rewrites; Quick optimizations are lighter-touch changes like adding a section or an internal link

Common Questions

Do I need to be an SEO expert?

No. Content Raptor guides you through every step. You don't need any SEO knowledge to get started.

How long does an optimization take?

The wizard takes 5–10 minutes. Writing and editing typically takes 20–40 minutes depending on the topic. Most optimizations are done in under an hour.

When will I see results?

SEO changes are gradual. Expect initial movement in 2–4 weeks, with significant gains over 1–3 months. Content Raptor creates an A/B test automatically when you mark a task as complete — view results from the Test Results tab in Optimizer Tasks. See A/B Test Results for details.
